"Cute" Koala Birthday Card

I made this cute card for my co-worker Yulise. I found out that her favorite color is pink and she likes anything "cute". She studied abroad in Australia during college and so I decided to use the koala from Create a Critter.

I'm really glad she liked it. She sent me a picture of the card sitting in her family room at home. She says it definitely brightens up the room. :-)
I'm also entering this card in the MPS drawing where we had to make anything "cute".

Birthday Card - No Cricut

Over at Emma's Thursday Challenge, we were challenged to make a card WITHOUT using our Cricut. Since I have lots of little pieces of scrapbooking paper, I decided to make a simple card using cut out squares! The sequins I found in a craft box that I used to store some old craft stuff from high school. Then I used stickles on top of the sequins. It worked out really well. I think I'm going to make more cards like this :)

Terrier Birthday Invitations

Yay! I received my 1st request for invitations! I made 65 of these cute little terrier invitations for a 3 year old who is having a puppy themed birthday. It was a lot of work, but I'm really happy with the way that it turned out. Hopefully this be the start of many more requests to come!

Wedding Card

Stacey asked if I could make a wedding card for her and of course I said yes. Her niece from the east coast is getting married and she wanted a special card made just for her. She wanted something with butterflies because it's very symbolic of her niece's strength to overcome an illness in recent years. I asked what the colors of the wedding were and she said purple. Here is what I came up with. There's a mixture of carts and stamps used here. The car is from Sweethearts and the butterflies are from Everyday Paper Dolls (I think). The "Congratulations" stamp is from Michaels and the "Live your Bliss" stamp is from Paper Trey Ink. Scallop punch is from Martha Stewart. Enjoy!

Twilight Birthday Cards!

This year for my good friends Lauren, Alice, and Willa I decided to make them "Twilight" birthday cards. Last year I made them Hello Kitty cards, so this year I thought I'd make something different.
I chose Edward for Lauren because I think she's team Edward. I used the colors: black (vampires), red (blood), and a shimmery pearl color (for his skin when in the light). Plus, I had already chosen Jacob for Willa, so Lauren was left with Edward. :-)

For Alice it was obvious to use Alice Cullen :) Plus I think that's her favorite character. Alice's favorite colors are red and pink, so I was happy to find a shimmery pink color to use as the main piece. I thought the sentiment matched perfectly.

Lastly, for Willa I chose Jacob. I think she's team Jacob because she mentioned she owned a pair of denim shorts just like the one he wears in the movie. Her favorite color is also blue. So for the card I used blue (denim shorts) and brown (werewolf).

Happy birthday LPK and A&W! Hope to visit you in LA soon!!

Baby Boy Card

My co-worker Tomomi asked me to make a baby card for her friend who was expecting a baby boy. Tomomi liked one of my previous cards I made using the loopy frames on the SYI cartridge. The monkey card can be found here. Based on this format, she knew exactly what she wanted, the colored frames with a little baby boy in the center. The baby cut out is also from the SYI cart. Since it was for a baby boy, I decided to use pastel blue, green, yellow, and blue.

I’m also entering this challenge for Momo’s Tuesday Challenge where we had to make something with a baby theme. Enjoy!

Flower Pot Birthday Card

I've always wanted to do a flower pot card. I just think they are so darn cute. I've done the paper flowers in a pot before but never as a card. Momo uploaded a great tutorial on how to make them, and I was so suprised at how easy it was. But I will admit, it takes A LONG time to "arrange" all of the pieces together. My first attempt didn't work out so well. The colors were off and it came out a bit small. This is actually my 2nd try at it. Leah my co-worker wanted me to make a birthday card for a friend who was turning 40. This is my take on a "fabulous at 40" birthday card. Enjoy!

Kid Birthday Cards

Leah my co-worker asked me to make 2 kid’s birthday cards for her nephew and niece. One is for a little boy who is turning 4. From what she’s told me Thomas the Train is a huge hit at her house. Although, I don’t have any images of Thomas, I decided to make a train. In order for each piece to line-up, I had to make this card rather large. I think it measured about 5x7. But it worked out perfectly because I was even able to add a little boy in the front. The other card she asked me to make was for a little girl turning 7. Her name is Daisy. She told me she DOES NOT like pink, so I went with the next best color: Purple :) I tried looking for a daisy cutout but couldn't find one on any of my cartridges. But I thought the flower in the corner worked out well :)

Penguin Birthday Card

I made this card for my friend Erik who I've known since high school. I decided to use the penguin from Create a Critter because it reminded me of a stuffed penguin he used to carry around with him. It was very similiar to the stuffed penguin Joey and Rachel fight over on the TV show Friends.

I'm also entering this card in the Fantabulous Cricut challenge where we had to make any project using any Cricut animal. Enjoy!

Absolutely Fabulous Girly Card

I made this card for my friend Shiwonda. It's inspired by one of her outfits. She wore this cute black and white dress from White House Black Market (one of our favorite stores) with these cute hot pink strappy sandals. For her engagement photo she wore a cute black dress and wore the same pink heels. I have a dress that's also black and white and it has a pink ribbon that ties around the waist. I just love how these colors come together.

I'm also entering this card for Momo's challenge, where we had to make something girly. The sentiment is perfect and I added some bling to jazz it up a bit. Enjoy!

Card Set

This post is long overdue. My friend Gwen's birthday was around the end of May, and I decided to make her a card set. This is actually the 1st card set I made. (Now that Brian and I bought a house, this may be my trademark gift this year) I found some really nice paper from a scrapbooking calendar that my friend Yen gave me. I decided to incorporate that paper because it matched perfectly with this shimmery beige paper that I found at Office Depot. with the two together it looked "classy". At the time I seemed like everything I was making felt very elementary or something that was just "cute". I decided to make 2 birthday and 2 thank you cards. Thanks to Momo I also made a matching box out of cardstock to put them in. She's up in the bay visiting some friends so hopefully I will be able to catch up with her tomrrow night.

Happy Birthday and Going Away Card

My co-worker Yulise wanted me to make a birthday card for her sister-in-law. She knew exactly what she wanted made, so that made my job pretty easy. She wanted a somewhat larger card so she would have enough room to write with, so I went with a 5x5 card instead of the usual A2 size. She wanted the colors red and pink with lots of shoes and purses. So this is what I came up with. I like the polka dot ribbon. I thought it matched pretty well. I also like the bling bling I put on the shoes. I think it turned out pretty girly. I may use this layout for more cards to come!

I forgot to take a picture of the card before I gave it to Yulise. Luckily she was able to take a picture of it with her iphone. Whew!

Yulise also needed a going away card for her friend who was moving from New York back to Australia. Again, Yulise made this project really easy for me because she knew what she wanted for this particular card. She said she was at the bookstore one day and saw a card that she really liked. So she wanted me to incorporate the same design with this card. She wanted a scalloped edge along the side and an image that would "pop" out of a window on the front of the card. She wanted something that would remind her of NY. I originally thought of using a skyline to represent all of the historical buildings in NY, but I couldn't find the right cut out. Plus, I thought maybe it wouldn't match because the colors of a building would be grey, dark blue, or black. Luckily, I thought of the infamous I love NY shirts, so that is what I was able to come up with. I cut out a little shirt and added the lettering on it. From there I tried to find patterned paper that would match the colors pink, red, and black. The patterned paper I found had some blue circles on it so that is how I came up with the color scheme. This card is a pretty large card, I believe it is 5X7, but I wanted to make it big so there would be enough room to have a window on the front. It worked out pretty well!

I won a giveaway!

Yay! I'm so excited I won another giveaway! There was a blog hop over the weekend hosted by Canadian Nickel Scrap'N where Momo was one the list of blog hops. Momo's blog is one of my favorite sites to visit for inspiration, tips, and tricks of card making. So I'm very excited that I won this set of stamps. This will go perfectly with my Create a Critter cartridge. I already have MPS's Punny-licious stamps so imagine what I can do with all of these available sentiments! I can't wait!

MPS Color Challenge

Here is a card I made for the My Pink Stamper Color Challenge. The challenge was to use the colors brown, pink, green, and orange. Here is what I came up with. The frog is from Create a Critter and the sentiment "Hoppy Birthday" is actually a stamp from the MPS Punny-licious line.

Tyler's 1st "Dino-Mite" Birthday Card - Spots and Dots

Yesterday was Brian's nephew Tyler's 1st birthday! I can't believe he is 1 already. Time flies by so fast!

I made this birthday card for him to go with my gift. Brian gave him cash and I bought him navy blue baby crocs shoes! I hope to take a picture of him wearing them so I can upload it to my blog. I thought it would come in very handy since he's walking now.

This is also perfect timing for the MBM Challenge: Spots and Dots. Since I decided to use the sentiment "Dino-mite", I wanted to find patterned paper that resembled fireworks.

More Graduation Cards!

I was asked to make 2 graduation cards for my co-worker Cindy. One of them is for a HS graduate and the other is for MS. She specifically requested criss-cross cards, with clean lines and designs. For the girl she wanted pink, but more of a fushcia color. Here they are!

Daddy's Birthday and Father's Day - Lakers Win!

Wow, what a championship series that was! I practically chewed off all of my finger nails watching Game 7 last night. (I have a bad habit of biting my nails. Imagine how I get when I'm nervous!) It was such a sloppy game, and I was nervous that the Lakers weren't going to pull it off. Kobe was cold but luckily Gasol and Artest backed him up. Finally halfway through the 4th, the Lakers were back on track and I'm so glad they pulled it off! 2010 NBA Champs!
Soooo...my dad's birthday is June 20th which is the same day at Father's Day. I won't be able to spend it with him because he is driving down to LA to visit my sister. He visited me last, so now it's time to visit her. He doesn't ask for anything because he always says "Don't spend your money, I don't need anything". So, typically every year we go out to dinner or something because to him if we're spending money at least it's on food :) I emailed him earlier this month to ask if he wanted a new computer. The computer he uses is from when my sister was in HS. It's SO OLD! But he has the patience to deal with it. I told him I found a great deal online for a new desktop and that we were going to buy it for him, but he still said no.
So right after that email he sends a new one. My dad just started using the computer a few years ago, and he's not that technically savy with the computer. When he writes emails, they are usually just a few sentences long and about 50% of the time, he remembers to type something in subject line. June 7th, I get a cute email from. "Hi Anna.We go to L.A on June 19,can you tell Tracy buy me a Laker hat for my birthday.Dad." Copied and pasted straight from my inbox. It doesn't surprise me, I had one of those Laker flags you hang on your car window (during the 3-peat years and everyone in LA had one on their car). He wanted one so bad, so I gave him mine. Then I bought him a Laker t-shirt and he wears it proudly in central CA.
Below is a card I made for my dad the Laker fan.

MCT Challenge

This is a card that I decided to make for the My Creative Time challenge. The challenge was to use the Stretch Your Imagination cartridge with the colors red, blue, and brown. SYI is one of the older cartridges so I had a hard time figuring out which images to use. Not only that but the colors blue, red, and brown are pretty hard to work with. Here is what I came up with. The "swirlies" are from SYI and the monkey is from CAC.

UPDATE: I won the challenge!! I woke up early one  morning and decided to check Emma's MCT website. She announced the winners in one of her videos. I decided to watch it anyway not thinking that I would win, and when I heard my name I was in shock. Then I replayed the video again so Brian could hear it too :) This is the first time I've ever won a challenge before. I won a set of face stamps from Peachy Keen Stamps. I can't wait to start using them.

Hello Kitty Thank You!

The twins Alice and Willa went to Korea to visit their parents last month. I really miss hanging out with them. It was always nice to know they lived just 10 mins away and would be up for shopping, grabbing dinner, Pinkberry/Yogurtland, or playing softball. I went to LA Memorial Day weekend for a friend's wedding and was able to squeeze in a dinner with them at one of our favorite restaurants Kotosh. (Japanese-Peruvian! Oh so yummy!) They brought me a gift back from Korea....a RED Hello Kitty umbrella! That was very sweet and so thoughtful of them. I know it will come in very handy since it rains in the bay area. I'll open it up outside of the house and take a picture to post later. (You know, superstitions and all :) So as a thank you to them, I made them Hello Kitty Thank You cards in their coordinating colors. I also found really cute "rainy day" scrapbooking paper to match. Everything that Alice owns is usually red or pink. Everything that Willa owns is blue, black, or grey.
Willa was amazed at what she calls my "display" cards. How they don't look like cards, but more of a display. I think she's referring to the easel cards. So I made her card an easel fold. For Alice, I thought it would be fun to do the shutter card. I'm glad you like the cards ladies!

MBM Challenege #5

My friend Shiwonda is travelling to Florida this weekend for her SIL's (sister-in-law) HS graduation. She asked me to make a card for her. She sent me a link of the website and the colors are blue and gold. I even googled some pictures online to check out the shades of colors on uniforms, logos, etc. because "blue and gold" varies by school. UCLA is blue and gold, but our blue is a "powder blue" :)
I'm also entering in this card for the Made By Momo Challege #5. The challenge is to make a graduation or congratulations card. The winner will be picked at random and will win the Cindy Loo cartridge. This cartridge was just released, so I'm crossing my fingers that I win so I can add it to my cartridge collection.

Get Well Soon LPK!

My friend and softball teammate Lauren recently sprained her ankle. Ouch! I hope she gets well soon as I hear she has a huge hiking trip planned in Europe next month. I decided to make her a get well card with the pig from the CAC cartridge. It's a lil' itty bitty 3x3 card. I forgot to take a picture at home with the digi camera before I left for work, so I had to use my camera phone. Her nickname is "Piggy", she even has it printed on the back of our softball jerseys. I hear it came from when she was a little girl she used to wear pigtails all the time. Which also explains the softball card I made for her a while back ago. It's her in pig tails with the colors of our softball uniform and her grey and red baseball bag.

Panda Card

I made this card for my good friend Janel, also known as Janelly :) In high school I worked at a Chinese restaurant. I think I waited on Janel's family once when they came in to eat. Later she ended up getting a job there as well. Oh my goodness....working with her was a trip! I don't think we could have survived working there without the support of each other. It's so nice to look back and laugh at all of the shady things that went on behind the scenes at work. We joke about some of the customers that came in and the "mean" boss we had to deal with :)
The panda kinda reminded me of a Chinese restaurant (like Panda Express haha).

Birthday Card!

Here is a birthday card I made for a co-worker. She asked for a somewhat girly card with the colors burgundy or dark blue, so this is what I came up with. Side step cards are actually pretty to easy to make. The only frustrating part is getting the fold and score lines to line up evenly. I actually messed up the 1st and 2nd time around. I guess 3rd times a charm!

BFF Card

My co-worker Cindy asked me to make a card for her BFF. They have been BFF's since high school back in the Philippines. In this card, her BFF is the nurse, and Cindy is the mom. I used purple which is her BFF's favorite color and incorporated Cindy's favorite color blue. This card is pretty big. It measures 5x8.
There is also a challenge over at Cricut Cardz Challenege: http://www.cricutcardzchallenge.blogspot.com/ This is my 1st time entering a card for one of their challenges.

Masculine Card

Masculine cards are pretty tough to make. My co-worker asked me to make a card for her brother. He is overseas right now and he misses Hawaii very much. I have this awesome vellum bamboo print paper that I decided to use. Who knew you could use brads on a masculine card! Here is her birthday card and matching envelope to give to her bro.

Criss-Cross Cards!

Here is my 1st attempt on a criss-cross card. A co-worker of mine asked if I could make several birthday cards. For the sister, something simple and not too girly. For her brother, something with dark hues and tones. For her friend something "Betsey Johnson" like. So, here is what I came up with! I like it!
